HENDERSON DE LUXE FOUR Model K — circa 1920
This Henderson De Luxe Four is one of the earliest examples of the K series, built shortly after Ignaz Schwinn's acquisition of the Henderson Motorcycle Company in 1917. The engine block carries the matching numbers K1002 and K1003, each accompanied by a "W" stamp, placing it among the very first machines produced under Schwinn ownership. A component at the front of the engine is numbered K1550.
As is often the case with motorcycles of this age and production history, the various components carry numbers pointing to slightly different years. The magneto mounting bracket is stamped K2249, which, according to Bill Klein of Henderson Motorcycle, corresponds to the 1921 model year, while the frame number 1206 points to 1920. Such variation is not unusual for early Henderson production and is part of the machine's documented history rather than a concern to be resolved.
The motorcycle has been in the current owner's possession since 1992.
