A Father & Son Restoration Project

Starting with a true barnfind, this rolling chassis of a 1925 Panhard X46, the father and son team of Wim and Ruud de Pater from Holland decided to tackle the project together. There was no coachwork left so they did some research about the specials that were available around that time. They found out that in 1925 the company Speed Record car was built on a similar chassis (oldwoodies.com). So why not build a replica of this Record car? And that’s just what they did. You can follow the process of the restoration on their website.

This came in through our "Show Your Prewar Car” page. If you have a similar project or anything else you’d like to show us, why not do so now!

Fabulous recreation: I hope all those sleeves keep operating with the usual Panhard efficiency, but if you'd like more insurance for the next hundred-year plan...since we last emailed all those years ago, I've discovered that my spare Panhard sans-soupapes motor is actually the same 12CV model as yours not the 7CV I at first presumed. Let me know if you'd prefer to have it in your collection....and check my prewarcar ad for the last spare Hispano-Suiza brake drum left in the world ;-) Mike

Dear Mr. de Pater,
i have here in my barn since a longer time front and rear axle +4 wheels for a panhard-levassor car. I would be happy if these parts get a new life. I can sell for a very low price.
Best regards Stefan Feller
