70 years HRG, or
Halford-Robins-Godfrey,

We are far from knowledgable on one of the most attractive obscure makes ever produced in the United Kingdom. A total of some 240 units has been produced between 1935 and 1955... Yet we are a great fan of the make that was far from popular in its time. Yes it was bought by drivers who wanted a light and strong GN - Frazer Nash-like car to compete, as there are the origins (Godfrey is the G from GN). His 'signature' is most visible at the front suspension (click) where the quarter eliptics take the place of the dumb irons (very GN like). In the eyes of the average consumer RG was primarily known for old fashioned design, harsh ride and comfort in the Spartan tradition. Today the HRG is wanted, even adored more than ever. Around 30 HRG's (click photo) came to Silverstone to celebrate the 70th birthday during last Sunday's ‘Spring Start’ as organised by the VSCC. (jump for a little more HRG history to Motorbase.com)

Back in the nineteen sixties I owned an HRG 1.5litre, 1937 I think, registry number GPB250. It is mentioned and photographed in Ian Dussek's book. Does anyone know of it's current whereabouts, or even if it still exists? Do please email me if you know of it. Many thanks!
