Company / History

Rosengart was founded by Lucien Rosengart, a successful entrepreneur who had previously supplied components to manufacturers such as Peugeot and Citroën. Recognizing the enormous success of the small and affordable Austin 7 in England, he acquired the license rights in 1927 to build the car in France.

Production began in 1927, and in 1928 the first Rosengart was introduced to the market: the LR2. This was the very first model produced by the brand.

This particular Rosengart is an LR2 Limousine, the more luxurious version within the LR2 range. This can be seen in features such as the high-quality interior finish and the opening front windscreen.

Engine

The engine is a four-cylinder unit with a displacement of 747 cc, paired with a 3-speed manual gearbox. The small 12 HP engine runs beautifully and functions exactly as it should, as does the gearbox.

History

This beautiful Rosengart LR2 was imported into the Netherlands in its current condition in 1987. The car had most likely been restored at some point before 1987, although unfortunately no documentation of this restoration is available. In 2006, the vehicle was acquired by the stepson of the then-owner.

Condition

The Rosengart is presented in excellent condition. The car shows some minor signs of use in places, but overall it is a charming and well-maintained example. The interior also remains in very good condition, and the seats are upholstered in a typical French fabric that suits the character of the car perfectly.

The Rosengart LR2 starts easily and drives well. All lighting is fully functional, as can be seen in the photographs.
