I worked extensively in Paris and can scarcely imagine what kind of person can commit such an act. To quote a close friend, 'I am horrified. Charlie followed me all my life, and now I feel like an orphan'.

I am shocked by this horrible act to my core, just as I was when the Boston Marathon was bombed. These acts of cowardice threaten the very principals on which our societies thrive. We must gather strength and find a way to stop this evil.

Freedom of speech...America's First Amendment means we have a free press which has made America a melting pot. We combat hate speech but allow it, we endorse no belief or religion and allow all of them. Ties to the past abuses of this creed survive but over time we hope liberte, egalite e fraternite rule here and in our sister country France. Je suis Charlie.
