A great man left for the greatest of all Tours. (update: extra photos)

Last Thursday Tjitte de Jong left for the greatest of all Tours. He was a vintage car enthusiast like very few others. Somebody who threw in everything until the very last day of his life. Not hindered by any need for personal gain or status. He just loved every nut and bolt of the hobby. He loved the cars, the vintage engineering, the fettling, the touring and the people involved. He was managing the restoration of his last project (a Monet-Goyon) from his hospital bed. It is Tjitte's explicit and final wish to make his last drive a true oldtimer event. This Saturday, October 14th, a line-up of automobiles with upfront his WWII Jeep, followed by the Rosengart and his Austin Seven Military, will bring our friend to his last parking place. All vintage car drivers who like to participate are fullheartedly invited to participate with their early car. So far close to a hundred cars are listed. If you want to be present with this last farewell please take your car to Zalencentrum Mansier, Paralellstraat 2, 7722 TD, Oudleusen, Holland and be sure to be there before 13.00 hrs. For more information see the tel. numbers under Read More. A short overview of Tjitte's commitment to these pages you will find here....
