A less known driver.

Today 57 years ago Edgar de Morawitz died in Sitges, Spain where he lived at the start / finish of his beloved circuit 'Autodromo Nacional'
(www.f1power.com). A bit of background on Morawitz by J. Manel Baró, from Spain : "Back in the early twenties, Ricart was deeply involved with the 'Terramar' autodrome both as a technical advisor and as pilot of his own designed 'RyP' racing cars and his Gipsy Moth airplane (www.sciencemuseum.co.uk). As you perhaps know, the organizers used to offer races between cars, motorbikes and planes, or several planes chasing small latex balloons. Edgard Von Morawitz von Frank was a wealthy aristocrat from the Balcans living near Barcelona. He used to race quite often at 'Terramar' with his Bugatti 35. Later on, he bought the real estate were the track was built and opened an aluminium foundry inside the property where 'Champion' high perfomance pistons were made. (photo by editor)
