In 1926 the Yellowstone Park Transportation Company bought 26 Lincolns Model L to add to their existing fleet of motorcars and buses. The YPTC had them custom painted a Yellowstone Yellow. The Lincolns were kept in service until 1955 when the last two were bought by Montana Senator Wm. McKay. Bill completed the restoration in 1971. About a half dozen of the Lincolns originally delivered by Ford are still known to exist, however this one is considered by far the best, most true to original Yellowstone Model L Lincolns. It even has the original park number plate and storage box on the rear. The photo dates from the 1970s. It was taken at the Colorado Railroad Museum that specializes in Denver & Rio Grande narrow gauge trains. (text & photo Hugh Nutting) (RB)
