Most of us like to browse auction catalogues, because they always produce something interesting or unexpected. Like this 1920 ReVere Model A Sport Touring. The name Revere reminds us of that famous rock band (paulrevereraiders.com) of the sixties, but this car’s name has nothing to do with them. On the contrary, both car and rock band were named after Paul Revere (earlyamerica.com), the famous patriot of the Revolutionary War. But the reason why the car manufacturing company chose to spell the name as ReVere with a capital V has been lost in the mists of time. The ReVere was in production from 1918 till 1926, but in 1920 only 43 were made. Seven are thought to exist today, of which still a few have the original unique Duesenberg Walking Beam engine. The ReVere was marketed as a classy car, in the style of Stutz and Duesenberg and this example is no exception. It comes from the collection of a famous Michigan collector by the name of Barney Pollard (expatriate-online.com) and has led a sheltered life since the nineteen forties. It will be sold at the next auction to be held by RM at Amelia Island on March 12 (photo courtesy RM auctions)
