A real or virtual Minerva?

(re-issue)We discovered an old photo of a Minerva design. Belgium's most famous car with their strong sleeve valve engines. The interesting art deco design was made for Mr. Paul van Zeeland. We are quite intersted in the story behind this car. Who is the designer? Who was Mr. van Zeeland? Was the car ever built? Please send your comments. Clic the pic for a short Minerva history and photo's of Bill Sides of Australia. (photo collection editor)(orig. 14-01-02)

The drawing was probably designed by the renowned Brussels coachbuilder d'Ieteren Frères. Was this design ever built? I am in possession of a B&W picture depicting a similar Minerva 40 HP. Was that the Van Zeeland Minerva?! Who knows.....?? To be continued.

In March 1935 he became prime minister of a government of national unity, a coalition of the three largest parties in the country : the Catholics , Liberals and Socialists. This government was confronted with a severe economic crisis that hit the country.
Spring 1936 the government was forced to resign by the sedition of the fascist Rex party, led by Léon Degrelle, but she managed to start a new period of June 1936 to November 1937. Paul Van Zeeland became deputy governor from 1934 to 1935 at the National Bank and then member of parliament for the Brussels district during the period 1937-1939 , in replacement of Alfred Olivier.
The Pierlot government in exile in London, appointed Van Zeeland during the war as Chairman of the Committee for the Study of the Post-War Problems. This committee was to focus mainly on the repression that would break out after the WW II. After the war Van Zeeland still remained foreign minister in several governments between 1949 and 1954. Van Zeeland was also co-opted senator from 1946 to 1956. Mr. Zeeland Paul was appointed Minister of State in 1948 and in 1963 King Boudewijn-I knighted the Minister of State to Viscount. He took the motto: “Luctor”.
In 1946 Van Zeeland founded an offshore company in Panama, which in 2013 still came to light in connection with the renowned offshore leaks. As result of these disclosures his granddaughter, Catherine Van Zeeland put one-step aside, at that period adviser in the Cabinet Joëlle Milquet.
