A few weeks ago we published an article about an Austin Ten that had a mystery French coachwork. It was identified by Gerard Kroon as being a body made by Kelsch from Paris. No coincidence as Gerard happens to own a 1935 La Licorne Type 415 Rivoli series L2 with a body that was also made by Kelsch. But the real coincidence is that both cars originated from the French town Alençon and that these cars probably have passed each other on the Alençon streets more than once. The La Licorne (unicorn in English) still sports a brass plate on the dashboard with the name and address of the first owner. Gerard tried to find out more about his La Licorne’s past but still has questions like: Who was Vital Manoury? Was the car parked on this address? And how did it survive the war? To start with, a picture of 32 Rue Cazault would be very nice. Maybe one of our readers in or near Alençon can help? We will be most happy to pass this picture on to Gerard. [email protected] (RB)
