A winter outing (3)

Gerald Krahn is researching the history of the 100 years old firm Marvin. He sent us two photos including these two men returning from a succesful deerhunt in their presumed 1914 Overland. The story behind the photo doesn't tell anything about the hunt, but we thought it's interesting and about a winter pasttimes: "George Marvin came to Warroad in 1904 to manage a grain elevator for a Canadian grain company. Later when the elevator was closed he went into business for himself. The window company grew out of a “no layoff policy” he had in his lumber yard during the depression. One of the employees asked for Mr. Marvin to buy 2 pieces of woodworking equipment to make window frames so there would work in addition to sweeping the floor in the winter months. Years later this was expanded to offer employment to service men coming home from WWII." Ed.: When the windows have the same quality as the photos they have kept - click the photo for enlarged detail - the company will last another 100 years. (photo courtesy Marvin Windows and Doors).
