Alberto F. Roth e la sua Minerva – corse in Argentina
Questa foto ritrae Alberto F. Roth, una personalità di spicco dell’Argentina dell’epoca, al volante di una Minerva da corsa. Lo scatto fu realizzato durante una competizione in Argentina e mostra Roth poco prima della partenza, con lo sguardo determinato e il suo meccanico seduto accanto a lui. La piccola foto inserita in alto mostra la Minerva lanciata a tutta velocità su una strada sterrata e polverosa, osservata da spettatori – o forse semplici passanti incuriositi – che seguono la scena da vicino.
Minerva è già stata citata più volte su queste pagine, spesso attraverso foto misteriose. Questo esemplare in particolare, chiaramente alleggerito per le corse e segnato da un utilizzo intenso, aggiunge un nuovo enigma belga. Questa Minerva fu importata direttamente dal Belgio in questa configurazione, o venne forse modificata localmente per adattarsi alle condizioni delle corse argentine? Il modello esatto rimane incerto – potrebbe trattarsi di una versione sportiva derivata dalla 20CV o dalla 30CV?
Ci rivolgiamo dunque ai nostri lettori: qualcuno riconosce questa Minerva? Ogni informazione sul modello, sulla sua storia sportiva o sul modo in cui è arrivata in Argentina sarà preziosa.

Looks immediately pre WW1, could be 26CV but I'm not sure about the 3/4 elliptic rear and RAF style wheels

That is a 1912 chassis, which was identical for both the 16hp and 25hp models. The 38hp model had a slightly different transmission. Spring configuration is correct and the wheels were indeed RAF wheels (from the Soc. des Roues Amovibles Françaises).

This is not a 1914 TT car, but one of the Minerva-team which participated in the Grand Prix de Belgique of 1912. Most probably the car on this photo belonged to Godeau.
Although very similar to the Argentinian racer, there are some differences; the vent slids in the body just after the bonnet are different and also the dumb-irons of the Grand Prix car seem to extend further forward.

Absolutely correct Ariejan, dont know why i mixed up the TT with the 1912 GP Belgium.
Did not 3 cars entered that race, The 1912 cars look more modern than the 1914 ones with the fuel tank on the back.
Also, there was an importand Minerva dealer at the time in Buenos AIres, The building with Minerva logo was stil there entil the1990 ties. Maybe stil exist ?
