Driving your PreWarCar past landmarks in capitals or big cities, is an exhilarating experience. Last weekend we participated in the Paris-Rambouillet rally with an early Mors. Starting from the high security École militaire (the Military Academy) in the city centre it took us past the Eiffel tower and around the Arc de Triophe.
The oldest car participating in the rally was a beautiful 1897 Malicet et Blin vis-à-vis. Others included a Pilain, a Unic, a Gréagoire, a Saxon, a Clémant Bayard, a Delaunay Belleville, a Maxwell, Sizaire-Nuadins and a Lacoste et Battman — all cars you would not expect to find in every car rally. The larger and more well-known Fresh marques such as Renault and De Dion Bouton also worked their way through the chaotic streets of Paris to the first stop — oysters and wine — with a view of the magnificent Château Versailles.
We then continued our route through the more rural roads to Château de Breteuil where, on the long avenue to the manor house, we took this picture of what has to be the lady of the rally! We would not like to swap places with her!
A crowd was there to welcome the participants in Rambouillet, where all the cars were set up at the Bergerie national. To end the beautiful day, a delicious lunch was served in a marvellous setting and with typical French flair.
We would like to thank the organisation and all the volunteers for the wonderful time.
