An Indian Mystery car in Europe

A saloon to kick the week off. This photo was sent in by Harit Trivedi, who collects photos connected to India. He said the photo was taken in Europe and the people appear to be from India. The car has some patina and Harit thinks it is a French car.

Editor: although it is clearly in a French speaking country (see the signes on the back ground) our first idea was that it was a Franklin or similar. But we were a bit confused because of the wire wheels and headlights.
Who can shine his light over this mystery and can tell us more about the car, the building it is standing in front of and maybe about the family. Looking forward to your thoughts.
Have a good week!

The painted radiator, the typical radiator cap (you remove it by simply pressing on top of it) and the lack of louvres on the bonnet show that the car is a Delaunay Belleville.
The short lenght of the bonnet indicates that the engine is not a 6 cylinder but rather a 4 cylinder such as on Delaunay P4B.

Well I would say that Mr. Clive Boothman is spot on, it is definately Sable D'Or Les Pins in Brittany, Northern France. The location is even unchanged today and prewarcom has already had a feature about that place, and you can find the picture how it looks like today:

If you look on lessablesdor.e-monsite.com you will see pictures of the Galleries des Arcade (which was also a hotel). The features of this building are clearly the same as in the photo. The building appears to have been completed in 1925 so the photo must date from around then.

The detachable trunk is most likely from Moynat,Paris a luxury brand now revived by the LVMH group, I have a similar trunk.

I agree with David Scott, I doubt photo was taken in France as building is not French style but more colonial style. Up to the 1950's, France had several trading places in French Indies: Pondichery, Chandernagor, Mahé.....Photo could have been taken in one of those places.

I think it is a circa 1921 Delaunay-Belleville.

The location appears to be Sable D'Or Les Pins in Brittany, Northern France. This resort was built in 1921 - the car would appear to be from a similar date (early 20's).

What do you think about a Delaunay-Belleville P4B? The v-shape radiator with paint seems to be a good indicator. Like the same car in French car for sale.
Have a good day !

I doubt very much that is in France, far more likely somewhere in Francophone Asia, Lebanon maybe, Vietnam? The architecture looks more Asian than French. And yes, it does look a bit ""Franklinesque" but wire wheels were often available as an option I think?

The car is left hand drive so maybe not French?
