Today is the fourth time we remember 9/11. A day that not only changed the face of New York but of the whole world. After that, numerous other disasters and wars came and millions suffered and have died far before their time. The picture here is showing better times in a town called New Orleans. Today Canal Street is empty as never before (we had the shivers when Google told us that Canal Street is today's location of the New Orleans World Trade Center... ). New Orleans also will never be the same again. But in the end what counts is the spirit of a town, the spirit of its inhabitants. No matter if it is New York or New Orleans. From a movie made in New Orleans I remember this scene of a jazz funeral expressing immense grief combined with a firm belief in a better tomorrow, either it in this world or in eternity. In the meantime enjoy the nice collection of (postcard courtesy Horwitz Collection; more New Orleans pictures at Penny Postcards of Louisiana (Rootsweb.com) ).
