The celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of woman on International Women's Day goes back to 1909. Where it started in the United States of America, it is now spread out all over the world and in several countries even a public holiday. The fact that the 8th of March is this year on a Friday is perfect for our Friday Lady feature!
When we searched for information about the photograph you see here (click to enlarge). We found out the photo is used for the cover of a book titled ‘’The Hireling’’ by L.P. Hartley. The woman you see represents the classy Lady Franklin. It is probably taken sometime in the 1920s. The exact location we do not know. Does anyone recognise the arch with the iron gates? The PreWarCar we see is a late 1920`s Bentley 4.5 Litre Saloon. A beautiful and classy car. Perfect to be driven around as a flapper!
