Believe it or not; it is a Citroën TA. (UPDATE III: about the year 1944 )

The most interesting car at coming Friday's auction of the Jean Tua collection in Geneva is not the Hispano-Suiza K6 Coupe. A much more humble car is the hero. Who cares for a common car like a Citroen TA...? Well, how about the year 1944 ?! The well educated PWC visitor should raise an eyebrow as no cars were produced in that year. Correction, almost not one car. Production had ceased all over in the world after Pearl Harbour... with one small exception. Switzerland was neutral and made a few cars for a handful of wealthy clients. As not really new cars were available, one or two Swiss coachbuilders projected their views on what was available. Unsold prewar stock. Like this prewar Traction Avant. The coachbuilder Bernath started business in 1938, in La Chaux de Fonds and he did several interesting coachworks. The reason we think this one is more special than others? Because the car underneath is no Talbot, no Delage, no Delahaye but a high volume family car + the very special year of production. We are highly curious what this car will do. But, no matter what, we think it is the most interesting object historically speaking. See the overall view on the interior and the car as a totality. Friday next at Osenat, Geneva
UPDATE III: See at 'Read More' the dialogue between Stuart Penketh and TA-expert J.Cats.
UPDATE II: by Mario Montanaro of Osenat: "According to the Swiss registration papers and the plaque on the car this car was built in 1944 and registered in 1945."
UPDATE I by Stuart Penketh: "This TA special cabriolet was believed modified by Bernath in 1938, so correct, none produced in 1944." (more about Special bodied TA at Cats-Citroen.net)
