Not a trumpet actually, but a sax sounds just as well. We could write a lot of words about this year’s Techno Classica in Essen, Germany. Instead it’s better to let the images speak for themselves. Of course the most important stand in Essen was ours :-) Lots of the 165.000 (!) visitors came in for a chat and had a look at the numerous adverts. Many of the established makes, like Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Bosch had their own stands, thus indicating how important the antique and classic car fraternity has become for them. A personal favourite was Citroën, who showed the pre-war prototype of the post-war 2CV. There was also plenty of room for classic car dealers, among them The Gallery, who were awarded the prize for the stand with the most varied inventory. Further there were loads of stands with specialist tools, well-presented automobile clubs and rare automobilia. In another hall, hard to find though, was a section dedicated to lorries, something you don’t often see at classic car shows. The dates of next year’s Techno Classica aren’t known yet, so do check our events-calendar regularly. (RB)
