Bruce McLaren before Mercedes. UPDATE

One of the great names of the Forumula 1 era was & is the late Bruce McLaren (Planet-F1.com). His name lives on in the current McLaren-Mercedes team. But the is that this photo proves that you don't need a milion dollar budget to become one of the greatest. The Austin Seven Ulster -modest both in terms of budget as bhp's - is loaded with silverware. Bruce was not the only one who stated a career with a Seven. UPDATE by Bas de Voogd and Jan Stellingwerff: Colin Chapman created his first "Lotus" on the basis of a 1930 Austin Fabric Saloon. Jem Marsh, one of the founders of Marcos, started his racing career with a special based on an Austin 7 . Sir Alex Issigonis (Austin Mini) had to do with Austin &'s as well.
