Is this the ex-Vietnam 'CIA' Brescia? (update: no, that was the ex Andre Rheault type 40)

Erik Thomas: "I took this picture of this Bugatti at the 2011 or 2012 VSCCA Hunnewell Hillclimb. This is a pre-war only event near Boston, Massachusetts. I was sitting in my MGTC waiting for my run up the hill, when the owner of the Bug backed it up into the wooded area to have a wee. For some odd reason, those Brescia Bugs always look best off road. If I remember, that car was found by one of our members while he was working for the CIA in Vietnam in the 1960's. Somehow, he got it home. He is no longer alive, and the car was sold on to Italy. I think that car was one of my favorites of all time. Perhaps some day I will own one."

editor: Erik isn't 100% sure this is the ex-Vietnam car and would love to have the identity of the car confirmed from Brescia circles.

What a great picture! This is my old car which belonged to my father Andre Rheault before me. He bought the car from Australia in 1977 and it resided with me from 2000-2014.

The Saigon car was my father's type 40 grand sport. It was found derelict and he had it restored in Saigon in the mid 50's. There were many bugattis and other pre-war French cars around then and his very good friend bought a running type 57 at the same time.

I know the owner (who was ex-CIA) quite well and understood that it was his T40 not this Brescia that he found in Vietnam in the 1960's. The t40 was sold but T13 is still with his son

I hadn't heard of this Brescia, but there's an ex-Vietnam Type 40 in Barry Price's book on the Type 40, shown in 'as found' and 'as-restored' condition. No reason to doubt the presence of other Bugattis in Vietnam, what with its being an old French colony an' all. Doubtless the cognoscenti know exactly the export details from the period...
