“But he loved his 1938 Ford and did not wanted to sell the car”

Jirka Schwarz told us the story of his 1938 Ford V8:

“When I was 14, a friend of mine told me about an old man who lived in a nearby town called Netolice here in South Bohemia. The man would help me with the parts for my ČZ 1938 motorbike, which I drove without driving licence. It was 14 km from my home to Netolice, so I drove on my Pionýr and went to Netolice. I found the man, this name was Rudolf Bolech. A sales representative of the motorcycle factory ČZ in Strakonice.

He lived in an old house. There was a 1938 Ford V8 parked in the corridor. I was impressed and I liked the car very much. I admired the car. Mr Bolech told me that the Ford his favourite car was, but he drove the car only little these days. The Ford was made in Belgium and bought as a new car by Mr Bolech as the first owner in 1938. The car was used for only half a year, as a service car. But after the half year, WWII started and the car could not be used, as petrol was not available.

After the war in 1948, the car had become state ownership. But Mr Bolech found the Ford and bought the car from the State Property Fund. He retired and I visited him often, we became friends. I asked Mr Bolech sometimes if he would sell me the Ford. But he loved his 1938 Ford and did not wanted to sell the car. Sadly enough Mr Bolech died in 1992. During his life, he drove 34 428 km with his Ford. The car was inherited by Mr Bolech his son. In 2010, when Mr Bolech his son was also quite old and had health problems he (finally) sold me the Ford.

What happened next? I wanted to leave the Ford in its original condition, but my friend persuaded me to repair the car. The idea was to create signs with the ČZ trademark and the name Bolech on the sides of the body. But I still have not finished the car yet.

This is the actual situation with the Ford. It is challenging for me to finish the project for various reasons. Which is the reason why I am disposed to hand over this project to another enthusiast..."

I have the same question as Cordy. Jirka is happy to " hand over " . I assume the translation went stray/got lost somewhere. That would be " for sale " i guess ?
