Automòbil unknown

These interesting photographs come from the Girona Public Library, which explains the seemingly odd information in their caption: ‘Home sortint d'un garatge amb un automòbil monoplaça’. That’s not your usual Spanish; it’s Catalonian and translates as ‘Man coming out of a garage with a single-seater car’. Hmm…

Is it a single-seater in the first place? That’s hard to tell. It seems to us that the steering wheel is positioned not quite centrally but more to the right, leaving at least some room for a passenger. What’s more, it seems likely that the photographer was also our man’s passenger who jumped in and out of the car to take his pictures. What a pity he took them all more or less from the same angle as it would be nice to see this vehicle from the other side or from the back also.

The simple front-wheel suspension is very visible, though, as is that impressive radiator grille with a large badge on it, but not quite large enough to read it. DAVID, perhaps? Was there ever a marque with that name? What can you make from it?
