Rest assured, we will not make any remarks about female drivers. We don’t even know whether this lady was driving at the time of the accident. All we know is that the car is a real mess. The lady’s name is Nelly Meijs and she was married to Willem Heesemans, a wool merchant from Tilburg, The Netherlands. According to the number on the licence plate this car was registered as a 1903 Darracq 9hp, which means that it should have a one or two cylinder engine. Yet when looking at the photograph it is clearly a four cylinder. And here’s another photograph -perhaps taken after the accident- of the same car. We think the chassis has been tampered with and also that the hood looks too long. So, what is this car? Is it really a Darracq? Or another marque? Please give us your valued opinion!
