Today it is the 4th of October – World Animal Day. A reason for us to find footage which has something to do with animals and pre-war cars. We could have gone for the obvious; put your pet behind the wheel of your pre-war and take a photograph. But when going through our archive we found this fun article called “Dogmobile Tour” out of the June issue of the magazine Popular Science Monthly. When doing some further research we also found a pre-war goat mobile and chicken mobile!
If you decided to take your pet(s) out for a drive in one of your pre-war cars please do take a photograph and “post” it below with a comment or send it to [email protected]. And do not forget to pamper your pet(s) today!

One dog power is the rating of a home-made auto conceived by CoyWataon, Jr., a 10-year-old boy of Los Angeles, Calif., who motors about town in a car propelled by a Belgian work dog. The patient animal operates a treadmill concealed in the large hood and with the aid of gearing drives the car a very fair speed.
Dogs of this breed are trained as work animals in Holland and Belgium, and the treadmill is no novelty to them. Coy`s dog enjoys the ride nearly as much as his young master, who finds it easy to avoid “engine trouble”.
