Eating a Bugatti for Easter

Easter and eggs are inseparable, although many of the eggs consumed in the next few days will be chocolate ones rather than the traditional dyed or painted chicken eggs. Milk or dark, filled with caramel or fondant, there are hundreds to choose from, and they aren’t the only things made of chocolate that will be given and consumed during Easter. There will be chocolate Easter bunnies, ducks and chicks, as well.

Some people like to take their Easter chocolate gift to a next level and this Bugatti Type 35 is the best example of that. It was made by the French master chocolatier Jean-Luc Decluzeau, who spent 380 hours fabricating it from 400kg of pure chocolate! The piece was unveiled at the 27th edition of the Salon du Chocolat last year in Paris. According to the Salon’s organization "Decluzeau is as passionate about his métier of Maître Chocolatier as he is about history and the automobile."

 

His chocolate Bugatti sculpture is now on display at the Musée du Chocolat in Colmar and we guess you’ll need a big wallet to take it home to please the wife. But the chocolate museum is in fact situated right in between Bugatti’s old factory in Molsheim and the famous Schlumpf Collection in Mulhouse. Maybe that could be a good idea for an Easter outing if you haven’t any family obligations yet?

It’s not the first pre-war sports-car made from chocolate, either. A couple of years ago the rolling chassis of an Amilcar CGSs was equipped with a body made of chocolate also. Once again, it was a French affair.
