by Bas de Voogd: Innovation was the way to go for André Citroen. He was convinced that all transportproblems could be solved by these half tracks which combined Citroen technology with the invention of Adolphe Kegresse(Derela.Republika.pl).
Proving to the world that this was the ultimate land going vehicle Citroen organised several expeditions starting in 1923 with the first motor crossing of the Sahara desert. In 1924 they did the Sahara again but going as far as Mozambique where they did not arrive untill June 1925. The ultimate challenges were from Beiruth to Peking, crossing the Himalaya and the Goby desert and later a trip from Chicago to Fort St. John in the arctic north. The Citroen Kegresse was worldwide very popular with the armed forces as well as many French farmers for whom there was a civilian model available. This picture shows such a civilian example in, what it looks to be, its final restingplace in France.
