Fashionable Friday lady in modish mystery motor

We know you like to solve a bit of a mystery here at PreWarCar.com, and who are we not to support your enthusiasm and provide you with another little nut to crack? So let’s get on with this puzzle picture. There’s very little information. In fact all we know is that the photograph was supposedly taken in 1933. That’s it.

This leaves us with the satisfying job of deducing its provenance from what we can see. Left hand drive suggests USA or Continental Europe and we think the latter here. The backdrop doesn’t give anything away but our intuition says France or Germany. In her day the lady certainly must have been a dedicated follower of fashion with some very smart clothing, also note the dog sitting on the folded-up roof. But none of that brings us much closer to the answer.

The real question for us car sleuths still remains — what’s that car? Its steel wheels with hubcaps, the leather interior and that huge door all whisper Mercedes to us, and yet it doesn’t seem to be a run-off-the-mill model. But then there’s that little badge on its side, just above the running board. This has to be a coach-built beauty, doesn't it? Who can help us out here?

Thank you all!
The badge certainly seems to be Autenrieth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karosseriebau_Autenrieth#/media/File:Emblem_Autenrieth.JPG

It is a Röhr R8 RA Cabriolet by Autenrieth. In Henning Zaiss' book about Autenrieth is an almost perfect match except for the running boards and the wheels.

I'm pretty sure that the lady (and the little dog) enjoy sitting in a Röhr 8 with an Autenrieth body.

I agree, although I couldn't find a perfect match in Werner Schollenberger's brilliant book on Röhr (and other designs by H.G. Röhr and his companion Joseph Dauben).

Certinly not a Mercedes, had never handles like that. I think Adler Trumpf around 1933 - 35. The body looks like the car I had many years ago, Adler Trumpf cabrio.

The wheels maybe Michelin ‘Pilot’? they were used by Renault and Citroen and I imagined it could be one of the special Million-Guiet bodies offered as an option on those makes. However, the unusual steering wheel spokes, massive stacked hood and high-quality plated fittings and furniture indicate a German product – Mercedes?
