From Burial Ground to Brighton

Three weeks ago, on Sunday November 2nd, no less than 481 cars left London Hyde Park in the early morning to struggle their way to Brighton. One of the 420 finishers that made it to Madeira Drive in time was this big seven-litre F.I.A.T. with starting number 538. In 1904 the F.I.A.T. was bought new by Mr. George Agassiz of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA and remained in his family until 1932 when it was buried on the family estate out of sentimental reasons. In 1942 it was dug up again and surprisingly the F.I.A.T. had survived its burial in quite good condition. The car then moved from one collection to another until it was restored to its present form. Now owned by Jan Bruijn of Galleria Style & Auto, he and his wife had great fun steering the mighty F.I.A.T. through the early morning traffic.
