The end of your editor's Hershey leave is near. So we thought it nice to show a typical Amsterdam picture. You think it isn't? Then how about the Orange sky over a Red White and Blue landscape? You still don't get the picture? What has a Cleveland Six to do with Amsterdam? Just click the pic. This outspoken art-deco advert was run by the Amsterdam Cleveland representative 'Garage-Anchelon', Showroom: Weteringschans 103, Garage Havenstraat 14, telf. 28653. Anybody who has more details about this Dutch Cleveland dealer? [email protected]
UPDATE by Fons Alkemade:"Anchelon was a rather well-known name in the Amsterdam car world in the
1920s and 1930s. The firm was founded by Johannes Anchelon and partners in
1923 or 1924 and they started as dealers for Cleveland and Chandler. From
the late 1920s they had moved to a dealership of Cord and Auburn (which they
also used as taxis). In the 1930s their prestige was somewhat diminishing as
they turned to Opel, Renault and Singer.
The showroom on the Weteringschans has been demolished but the garage in the
Havenstraat is still used by a car rental company."
