Strolling around Hershey you can bump into anything. From this fresh-catch 1920 Overland up to 200 point Woody perfection (Auto Detailing Academy). We'll give you a short tour round the 2008 fields with a highly biased editor's eye.
A Packard V12 project is interesting in itself, but the one we came across is most likely the only really-truly boat tailed Packard (Tom Laferriere). The first car we saw being sold is on its way to Holland, a fine Hooker bodied Fiat. Not for sale, but much admired was the Gray Wolf reconstruction (by Don Boulton?). And mind you about the work involved in creating a downsized Figo-Flashy. Fortunately we found better legroom in the first Rolls we ever drove, a lovely scruffy shooting break. In general scruffyness is in high esteem at Herhsey. Every year our boot neighbour and solid friend Steve is getting applause for arriving in his nutdropping mobil home ("Hear my prayer, steal this car.") with the best model name around. Some people give proof of provenance like this comes straight from the barn like this egg laying Cadyy. And there was more home grown stuff, check this SSI barn-tourer(?). Now we are talking green, you should see Al Gore's ultimate classic: a pedal powered Mercer. back to the serious materials. A rare Rosengart 6 cylinder. A very rare Gläser bodied Ford. More than imposing was the 1930 Duesenberg based 1958 Kollins Le Grande; most hate it, but we loved the sheer size of this vintage based fifties road warrior. On the opposite of the weight scale a friend found & bought (from Dragone Classics) a neat Edwardian ex-racer(?), a no-body 1913(?) Peugeot Bébé. This EB design must have the smallest displacement T-head in existence (750 CC). Now to end this never ending picture report, we present you in our view the most different, most attractive, most jaw downpulling prewar car. Click here for PreWarCar's best of Hershey 2008 and think before you check Read More to look up the model. The owner may contact us if he likes to receive the PreWarCar winter sweater. Be sure also to check with Kit Foster to see his earlier Chocolate in Autumn.
Update by Kit Foster about the above Overland that by us was desribed as being 1920, which should have been 1912 (monitor blindness...): "... that Overland, can't be 1920. That style was over by 1919, and left-hand drive came in 1915."
