Help identifying my uncle's car

I wonder if your readers may be able to identify the car in the photo? The occupants are my uncle's family and it is believed to have been taken in the late 1930s or early 1940s. It has many similarities with a three-position Tickford coupé but the front-hinged doors are unusual for an English car of this period so we wonder if it may be Continental?

While I hate to question or contradict the expertise of the readership, I am surprised by the responses because it was my own thought that this was a BMW 319 cabriolet or, in fact, a Frazer Nash-BMW. I thought the panel around the spare wheel looked particularly BMW-esque, and since the car appears to be British-registered, a Frazer Nash-licensed BMW would make sense. Can anyone supply some pictures of an Adler with similar rear end treatment?

It seems to be an Adler Trumpf AV 1½-litre (not a Junior). The trunk of the Trumpf is larger than that of the Junior.

That should be an Adler Trumpf Junior Cabriolet with bodywork by Ambi-Budd.

I'm thinking that it's German—note the landau bars alongside the convertible top. It could be a DKW or Wanderer, maybe.
