Hercules, the forgotten cyclecar from Barcelona

Look it up,  Barcelona was founded by the mythological warrior Hercules. But Barcelona is also the heart of the pre-war spanish car industry. It was here where Hispano Suiza started. It is also the town that has the ill famed Autodromo Sitges Terramar  in its backyard. A circuit that was opened in 1922 to get the crowds in that were attending the earlier roadraces organised in the area. It was in the same year  that Juan Antonio  presented his Hercules cyclecar. Juan Antonio was an ex racing motorcyclist who already was experienced in building automobiles. He built commercial vehicles since 1906. Whatever happened after the first appearance? It seems that B-8231 was campaigned extensively at various occasions (click main photo). However to learn the full story you will have to wait for the introduction of the new spanish magazine AutoDrómo at this week's AutoRetro in Barcelona.

I also wonder about the car behind the Hercules. He has got the early fenders and I know them from my Citroen open twoseater 10hp (strapontin, verry rare). But on the picture it`s a cabriolet with doorwindows. Can it be a 10hp on the short chassis? Or is it a C3 / 5hp?

Not a B2 I would say, more like a 5hp with the coupe body ...note the dropped window. Yes indeed, I wonder what that is behind the Citroen? As is often the case with these old snaps one just wishes the photographer had been, say four or so paces to the right when he took the snap then we would have been able to see the other car! What a pretty car the Hercules is though.

Looks like a B2 Citroen sitting just behind the Hercules and what is the vehicle behind that? Cheers CRAIG.
