I regret it…

There can be various reasons for selling your beloved car. You would like to exchange it for another make, you simply need some money, family expansion… you name it. Then selling it via PreWarCar.com would, of course, be the best option (wink). You come to an agreement with the buyer (with pain in your heart). Have I made the right decision? You doubt it. But you also know a man a man, a word a word. So, the car goes to its a new owner, who will (hopefully) enjoy the car as much as you previously did. But you keep thinking about the car. All the lovely and exciting adventures you experienced together. Then you suddenly start regretting your decision to sell the car… You again go to PreWarCar.com to look if the buyer might have been a dealer, who again put it back on the website. Unfortunately, you cannot find your beloved car…

This might sound like some sort of promo story for our website, but it isn`t. Recently we heard from someone that they bought the car they previously owned. Which they for family reasons sold in the past. And we are sure this is not the first time this has happened.

Do you recognize yourself in this story? Or have you experienced something similar? Please send your story to [email protected]. We are going to write a feature about this subject in our magazine, and would like your input.

Sadly, Eleanor is leaving us.
When we purchased our 1930 Ford Model A Std. Phaeton this past year a debate ensued in our household as to naming our recent acquisition. I submitted my quandary to PWC (see this: https://www.prewarcar.com/who-can-come-up-with-a-new-nickname)and after several comments a name was chosen...Eleanor, in honor of Edsel Ford’s wife. Well, in our climate (Minnesota USA) an open car can be an asset as well as a liability and with our wet spring this year we missed several tours and events. Creature comfort is paramount to us in Touring in this climate so it was deemed that a purchase of a “saloon” body style would effectively negate weather as a factor in our old pre war car touring. “Eleanor” was advertised for sale on PWC and spotted by a chap in Great Britain, who acted quickly and a deal was concluded. So there we go.....no regrets in selling but some melancholy as , when the weather cooperates there is nothing like a Phaeton for a nice day’s drive!

I once owned a car that had belonged to my aunt who, at old age, gave up driving.
It wasn't my favourite make but as things go I developed a liking for it. In the workshop I had it wasn't in my way and I hardly used it. Things changed when I moved to an other place without room for the car. I then thought it better to sell it but when a serious buyer offered a good price sentimental feelings arose. I reversed my decision and put the car in a moisty box where soon rust started to develop. In the end it found a new owner and I got half the price that I could have had years before. No winners there. I now blame myself for having been a poor custodian. The moral of this story: always think twice about your second thoughts.

Best regards,

Once I have sold a car I love, I have always found that the pain in my heart is offset by the bulge in my wallet!!!
