This is a picture sent to me by a friend. His grandfather is sitting in the front passenger seat. He is wondering what make and year car this is. I have searched pictures of all the cars manufacturers that were manufactured from 1896 through 1906 (brands according to Wikipedia's listing of manufacturers). I have yet to find any that match the characteristics of this car. The car in this picture has some unique features that help to narrow down the year it was made and also what makes it isn't. For example, with only one headlight and no windshield, it's probably from between 1903 and 1906. The grill, with its perfect curve at the top, eliminates a lot of manufacturers. Two of the stranger features are the scroll work on the armrests (which I have yet to see in ANY pictures from this era) and the front fender that doesn't even reach the 12 o'clock position over the tire. Thanks for any information you can provide.
