Dear PreWarCar,
 
I thought you may be interested in a pre-war cigarette box which I found in a flea market in Belgium.  It was totally black, but I noticed the enamel car badges and thought it would be an interesting purchase, so I purchased it. I polished it when I got home and was pleased to find it was made of solid silver, with a continental 90% purity stamp.
 
I would be very interested to hear if you have any ideas about the original owner, who appears to have been Colombian. There are also some badges which I have not been able to identify.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions or observations you may have.

The German engraving on the case means "From Colombia by your friend Faust v. Vadnay". It is likely to be Pal-Faust von Vadnay from Budapest, who was an engineer but worked as well as a silent movie actor and director in Berlin during World War I and was married to Erdmute, Countess von der Schulenburg.
