'Best of Show' 2012 Amelia Island Concours: JP's Choice

J.P.  'Victorycars' Van De Bundt reports from Amelia Island Florida and was kind enough to send his first impressions of Sunday's Concours d' Elegance.
In the category "Most Impressive" the above shown 1909 Alco 6 cylinder racer, believed to be the historic winner of the 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races. To get an idea of the dimensions:  The tires measure 37" ... compared to which 30" Hummer wheels look like from a moped.

In JP's  category "Most Charming Presentation" appeared this 1903 Cadillac Rear Entrance Tonneau owned by Riley Best. Prior to restoration the first owner Mr. Trout (well in his seventies at that time)  drove the car through a storefront window.... twice (don't try this in your home town)

In the category 'Most Remarkable Standard Car' this 1920 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost pick-up . Said to be the only ever factory built service vehicle to provide personnel with an appropriate means of transport to visit RR clients.

We are awaiting official results of the 2012 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.

Love the Alco! My 7 year old son was fascinated by that very car when he saw it last fall at a local show here in NY, so the owner fired it up and gave him a ride in it! Great car, great owner!
