Dear Nigel and Peter,

Thank you for your comments and memories. I first when to OP at six weeks old in 1978, from there on in OP was the highlight on the year for me. Watching the GP cars was the best part of the meeting as well as the Edwardians the Zibra car was a memory as well.

I just hope this meeting sows a seed for another youngest like me, and keeps the Pre-war GP cars relative, only seeing 3 single seaters out at Monaco Historic 2026 should be a wake up call for us all, and only 2 GP cars at VSCC Donington Park. The grid for the 2026 Seaman is looking strong but I'm welcome to other entrants, particularly looking for Bugatti T54 and T59....

Oulton Park was my favourite circuit when I did a bit of racing back in the early 1980's. In fact, I raced the Seaman there in 1985, when there were so many retirements during practice (and after!) that the V.S.C.C called up all the reserves, which included my Austin 7. I think that I was the 4th reserve. I started at the back and, if I recall correctly, finished 16th out of 17 finishers and that was only because John Howell in his Bugatti had a malfunctioning OPG and stopped to investigate!
Oulton was also where I had my last race. That was in 1985. I remember it was on a wet track as it rained a lot that day and, as I had driven up to the circuit, as usual, before the meeting, rain did not present a problem. I was used to driving in it.
In August that year I had an 'off' during morning pre-race practice at Cadwell Park which, effectively, finished any competitive motor sport for several years.
Still, happy days and lots of pleasant memories. We will never see them again as the rules were a lot less restrictive back then.
