Le Rideau se lève... (the curtain is rising)

What a way to introduce a car... Suspense and a tickling of the senses. 1926, target audience the readers of La Vie Automobile, the well to do large French middleclass when everything went uphill. You only had to say you planned to build cars, and you would sell them. Click the photo for the full illustration of the advert introducing the Studebaker Erskine Six. One of those Erskine cars was once owned by Thomas in France (check his car). The Studebaker advert is just one of the thousands & thousands of gems which we found when browsing the 70.000 ! pages of Thomas Rudolf's collection of bounded years of 'La Vie Automobile'. You may say - Ohlala! - to the price, but great things in general have no small prices. Who knows when it will sell. Or not. But in case you are interested what kind of stuff sells through these pages take a look at the new gallery of Sold Parts we launched earlier this week. This is not a collection of 'dead' adverts, but of parts which were marked as 'sold' by their sellers. Enjoy !
