The first Flying Lady on worldtour to come in is this sitting lady that was sent by photographer Rick Ford (click for a visit to his archive). The only thing is that he was 44 years early, in 1960. Still the photo is great. Rick reports that the car involved is a 1933 Phantom II (chassis 74 MY) Sedanca Coupe by Gurney Nutting/Owen which is back in the UK: "It is pictured at The Jack o'Lantern garage near Romsey. It had returned overland from Istanbul and was about to go with me to Paris for the filming of the remake of "The Four Horsemen of the Acopalypse" with Glenn Ford, Director Vincente Minnelli (father of Liza (thank you Rutger Booy)). I drove it daily out to the location from central Paris...great fun around the Étoile in rush hour as it was still on Istanbul registration plates and fitted with a powerful siren to do battle with Turkish traffic. Filming was delayed and completed in California where the car was sent...not me unfortunately." Well Rick, judging from the photo, you've had your share and more. Anyway you have deserved the PrewarCar badge in our Flying Lady photo contest. (Rick Ford photo; click for full view)
