Low mileage car. Formerly owned by elderly lady (see UPDATE)

It sounds like a cheap car salesman cliche. But mind you, there is nothing against a cliche when it is nothing more than the truth. The incredible 1928 Mercedes-Benz type S Roadster by brilliant coachbuilder Saoutchik has been with the same family since Day One. More than that, it was with this very car that owner Mr. Bedford met the love of his life not much later. After his untimely death his widow had the car put on blocks until she decided to have the car restored in the late seventies. Thus the odometer reading of 31,550 miles sounds realistic. The car has remained with the family ever since and will now be auctioned by Christie's Monterey sale. Let's hope this memorable automobile once more will go to an owner as loyal as the first. Update by Bob: “This 1928 Mercedes was restored in Ridgefield by Gus Reuter, and upholstered by Dave Palmer of Ridgefield Auto Upholstery. Dave liked working on the car so much that the owner let hem use it in his shop logo.”
