It took me 39 years to get this Riley V-twin back on the road.

This is a photo of my 1909 2.5 liter V twin, 12/18 Riley Sportsman, Victor Riley a grandson of one of the original Riley brothers who built Riley motorcars is in the driving seat. I am sitting beside him. It is the only know Riley of this model.in existance today. I started with only a chassis that I found on a farm. The motor was in a sawbench, front axle on a trailer. Over a period of 35 years I gradually found parts here in New Zealand and in England. Manufactured what we couldn't find to original Riley specifications including the body gaurds and bonnet, wheels etc.It cruises comfortably at around 65 kmph, but can do up to 75 kmph comfortably.

P.S. Ivan still hopes to find a gearbox, (check! ; you can contact him through his advert)

Under "Read More" you can find the full story about this restoration. Ivan D. A inspirational story, much appreciated by crazy people such as I, who have gained attachment to some old relic and just have to see it "live again. ( 1923 Hands, now had 32 years)
