Monday Mystery: two imposing Edwardians

We were interested to receive a request for information concerning these two equally impressive Edwardians, which appear to have been photographed in Spain. The grand landaulet was obviously photographed in September 1907, while the racy two-seater probably dates from around the same time.

We're by no means certain, but we'd hazard a guess that the pictures show a large Mors of some description, similar to the 1904 24/32hp and the Revs Institute's 1908 Grand Prix model. It seems an appropriate guess in both cases, since Mors built large luxury cars for very wealthy buyers, but was also heavily invested in motor-racing. Émile Mors was a great believer in the maxim 'racing improves the breed', and in the sport's very earliest years, he was probably the fiercest rival Panhard-Levassor had. It was a Mors, driven by Gabriel, which won the infamous 1903 Paris-Madrid race.

It has been suggested that they might be one and the same car, though the landaulet appears to have a longer chassis. What do you think? Could it have been cut down into the dashing racer? They do have a lot of features in common including, it would appear, the moustachioed driver.

What do readers make of it all? And can anyone make sense of the Spanish? It appears to say 'Memory of your husband' and involves people called Hermenegild and Carmen and Pepe Vitar Cortes. They look like interesting people with wonderful cars, so we'd really like to know more.
