My grandfather and his (mystery?) cars
Last month, during InterClassics in Maastricht Paul Gadet came to our stand. He showed us these three pictures from an old family album. The first two pictures are taken in 1928. In the second picture, we see a young boy sitting in the front, that is Paul's father. The last picture with the three ladies probably dates from the late thirties.
Paul would like to find out which cars his grandfather owned. He thinks both cars might be Chevrolets. Is he right? Can anyone tell him more about these cars, their technique and/or performance?

With drum headlights on the tiebar, introduced that year, this looks like a 1926 Chevrolet Superior series V four-door sedan. Options were step plates (on runningboards), outside rear view mirror, whitewall tires, Moto-meter (present), special paint (looks like grandfather liked that), spare tire, woodspoke wheels. The later sedan, also Chevrolet, is a 1937-'38 model. P registration, on both cars, is for the Limburg province. Was the old car in use until P7213 was acquired?

The older Chevrolet is a 1925 series K superior. The cars were powered by a 171 cubic in , 26 horsepower engine. The name superior was to convince the buying public that they were superior to a Ford model T. With the introduction of the superior series sales rise 70 % over the previous year. The new Chevrolet is 1937 or 38 Master . The 37 models used vertical grill bars , in 38 they went to horizontal grill bars.
