Today we remember the terror that came over New York 5 years ago. All what happened on that day and the days before and after will be covered by the regular press in ample portions. So we decided to limit ourselves to a positive image of a city that has changed for ever. This photo, over 80 years old, is taken from a book with safety instructions. The location is a very quiet crossing. Along the neo-classic (government?/insurance?/...?) building on the left the view arrive at the next crossing. With some difficulty we see traffic lights (click photo) and we even imagine seeing the light being green to give way to a handful of cars. Safety Instructions? It is hard to imagine that something dangerous will ever occur in this seemingly deserted urban landscape. Times have changed, where did we take the wrong turn? (photos collection David Coco)
UPDATE II by Roger Bowers who wondered if the the photos maybe were reproduced inverted as these cars show a RHD set up. A similar model of 1926 is howibng a LHD. What is the truth?
UPDATEs I came in from George Cassidy and Arthur Wieselthier (Alvis TA 14 owner):" (this is the...) New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue ( intersection with 40th Street). Arthur adds: "Was there last week, area is packed with cars, busses and people. I look at your site every day, own an Alvis TA 14. "
