Not too far from Mount Wolseley

For those between you who don't know. The Irish are immensely proud of the Wolsely make, as Mr. Wolseley who started all that was a born Irishman. So no need to be surprised when you hear the VCC Ireland organised their main event near Mount Wolsely. Derek Wilson was kind enough to send these photos. He writes: "We had fantastic weather and lovely cars; 25 in total including two from England and one from Scotland. We managed to create an Edwardian traffic jam  outside the church in Tullow Co. Carlow, it was here that Frederick Wolseley was brought up.  (photos Derek Wilson; the larger black car in the second photo is a 1906 Wolseley Siddeley)

I was privileged to be involved with this event, as 'works driver' of Grahame Dutch's exquisite 18HP Thornycroft Torpedo, similar to the one I am restoring. Grahame drove the car from his home in Kent all the way to the event as he does not believe in trailers, an admirable sentiment. Not only were we blessed with an exceptional turnout of early cars, we were also blessed with fine weather, hospitality and craic, which the Irish do so well!

Martin Shelley

PS One of your pics features a fine 40HP Berliet landaulette which showed a good turn of speed to match its style.
