From the owner of a 1927 Fiat pick-up truck

Letter to the editor

Dear Editor,

I sent information about a Fiat truck sometime ago asking for information. My question was how many were made in 1927? Also, I asked if Fiat made a cab and chassis then. Perhaps there were custom fabricators for the wooden bed?

Any type of update on my question would be most welcome. I have been trying to locate or verify the information since 1987. I did speak with a lady by the name of Donnatella (sp.?) at the National Transportation Museum in Turin, Italy, back in the early '90s. Nothing turned up. My guess is that during World War II the Allies bombed the factory as it was doing military work. I'm assumed all paper records were destroyed by fire. Thanks you for taking the time to read all of this.

Yours sincerely,

These trucks were relatively common in India. I have somewhere a photo of trucks lined up in the commercial area of Bombay. All are Fiats.
I also have a photo of a survivor taken in about 1985, it was used as a water tender at the race course of Bombay. Its present status in not known to me.

The depicted lorry is a Fiat 621 built under license in Poland in the second half of the 1930s (which explains the different radiator emblem). Generally, the online truck-encyclopedia is a good source for researching Fiat trucks used by the military including those from the 1920s.
