The Peaks of the Adriatic pre-war might as well have been called “a border a day”. Eight days of motoring through the Balkan and eight border crossings. Away from the comfortable European zone into what many Brits see as the heavenly kingdom guarded by the uninformed.
With 31 pre-war cars, 13 Bentley's, through some of the countries, which are not on anybody’s “to visit”, list. A scenery varying from quasi Austrian in Slovenia to the rugged coastline in Croatia. From houses still rippled with bullet holes in Mostar to upcoming Montenegro. From agrarian Albania to the charter destination at Lake Ohrid (Macedonia) and finally into the old World at Meteora (Greece).
Eight days with each day a changing scenery, the changing climate one constant factor, the constant flow of beer and wine at the bar and abundance of local food. Great ambience, great fun!
Thanks to the skilled hands of the Altena Service team all cars covered the almost 2000 kilometres without major mishap. In Greece Michael and Bettina Diekmann (from Germany) proved to have navigated their Lagonda most accurately, before the Bentley of the Bailey’s (from Ireland) and the British Frazer Nash BMW from Noble.

Isn't that 30-98 an elegant-looking vintage, makes those green cars look almost lorry-like!
