Pictures with a question - the restoration of a 1931 Delage

Hidden in a "shed" which was actually more like a lean-to, this car was found. A 6 cylinder 1931 Delage. Love at first sight! But it was certainly not in the state as shown in the photographs. Herman, the current owner of the car decided to talk to Carrosseriebouw Jansen. He is a specialist in coachbuilts and made drawings of what this “barnfind” would have looked like. Together they made a plan of the work that had to be undertaken to be able to get the Delage back on the road.

A crucial part missing...

Then the actual restoration began. Starting with the design and shaping of the wooden panels. They are now two years into the restoration. The work is going well. However, there is a crucial part missing! Which – until now – they have not been able to find. The cylinder head. Therefore we would like to ask for your help. We are looking for a cylinder head for a 1931 Delage D6, or another one that would fit.

Is there anyone who can help Herman? Do you have a spare one or do you know where he can find one? Recommendations of companies that can help to create a new one are also welcome. For when he is unable to find one in the near future.

Almost all other parts are made or restored. Herman would like to have the car on the road as soon as possible. He just came back from the "Peaks of the Adriatic " rally he drove with his Morgan. One day he hopes to do something similar with the Delage!

Please comment below or contact, Herman Jacobs directly if you can help with the missing cylinder head. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

I was at the September Beaulieu autojumble in 2018, there was a guy selling Delage engines and various parts. He had about 4 engines, maybe more as I recall. Surely you must have a previous program that list the vendors.

There is a lady in Spain who advertises her father's 1914 Hispano-Suiza
marine engine on PWC .... apparently he/they have many other items
stored in the family castile,
My (admittedly rather less-than-reliable) memory is that there is a\
Delage D8 motor .... so if the PWC editorial computer can locate
the advert and the email, might be worth enquiring....because
that chassis frame will very adequately accept a straight 8 ....
with a subtle modification or 3.
The other person to get in touch with, always a super-useful contact
is a Great Brit living in France named Jon Champ....
Jon also advertises in these pages often.
He once offered a D6 chassis with no engine...
but if he doesn't know where to find a motor, or cylinder head
nobody in the world does.
