Piston eating Minerva mouse?
UPDATE: wrong piston ???

A worried Minerva owner heard some weird noises in the otherwise very silent sleeve valve engine of his AK. He finally decided to dismantle the engine to check what was happening down there. What he found was one piston that was partly eaten away. Now the single problem is where to get a new one as Halfords has ran out of Minerva pistons. Of course several people have started a search already. Into the very Minerva heart of Belgium and in countless NOS surplus of Henk Meijerink's Piston Paradise. So far without result. But you may be able to help? [email protected]
UPDATE II by Bill Sides:"That 95mm Minerva AK piston does not to my eye look like any Minerva piston I have seen . They normally in the mid to late 20’s were split skirt slipper types and rarely gave trouble. The engine number was usually stamped in fine print on the top of original pistons. They are a fairly loose fit and springy to reduce the risk of tightening inside the relatively delicate sleeves when the pistons are hot. Many cars have has sleeves broken by fitting inappropriate pistons. With two sleeves between the pistons and water jacket, Minerva pistons tend to run hotter than in other cars so expand more. The selection of any alternate replacement piston must be carefully considered."
UPDATE by Pierre 'Atelier' Lambaux :"We are able to make pistons for the Minerva. we are busy to do some for an other type of Minerva diam 75 but no problem to make diameter 95 "
